The Film Astu was screened in NCCS on 21st August 2016. 'Astu' is a thought-provoking film about a family struggling to cope with an ageing father who is losing his memory to Alzheimer's disease, and it revolves around the events that unfold when he goes missing one day. This film, which has done an excellent job of using the medium of cinema to spread awareness about the different aspects of dealing with dementia, has received rave reviews. It has won several awards, including National Awards for Best Dialogue by Sumitra Bhave & Best Supporting Actress award for Amruta Subhash, and the 'Audience Award for Best Film' at the Indian Film Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. It has also been screened at numerous festivals, including the New York Indian Film Festival and the International Film Festivals at Kerala and Bengaluru, and also at the Harvard University and the Swiss Tropical & Public Health Institute in Basel. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with eminent psychiatrist & renowned actor, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Sumitra Bhave, Sunil Sukthankar & other esteemed panelists. The panel discussion was as interesting as the movie.
